The Engineer repairs a broken or torn object at a single point, such as a broken chain link, two halves of a broken key, a torn cape or a leaking wineskin. To do this, he has to touch the object, and the break or tear must measure no more than 30 centimetres in each dimension. The problem is repaired and no trace of it remains.
The Engineer can upgrade a tool so that it gives advantage to associated rolls during Intelligence modifier days. This upgrade requires the necessary resources, a suitable location and at least 4 hours of work.
The Engineer can repair the structure of inventions when it is damaged according to the following criteria:
- If the structure has taken less than 20% of its hit points in damage, the engineer can make a Tinker's Tools roll, difficulty 10, to restore full hit points for 1 hour's work and zero cost.
- If the Structure has lost between 21 and 50% of its hit points, the engineer can make a Tinker's Tools roll, difficulty 12, to restore half of the lost hit points for 1 hour's work and zero cost, or 2 hours and 5% of the cost of the Structure component for the full amount.
- If the Structure has taken more than 50% of its hit points, the engineer can make a Tinker's Tools roll, difficulty 14, to restore the hit points for 3 hours' work and 10% of the cost. If he doesn't have the time or resources, he can make a rapid repair in 1 hour at zero cost to restore 25% of life points. However, the Structure will have a weakness and will break on any roll with a natural 1 from the invention. The component will then have to be completely replaced. This weakness can be removed by a total repair of 3 hours' work and 10% of the resource cost.
